Sometimes the best portraits happen when you least expect them. While waiting for Kīlauea to erupt, I overheard the Schroeder family joking that the moment would make a perfect Christmas card as they reached for their phones. I offered a quick five-minute shoot, and in that short time we captured something special—warm, candid images framed by the raw beauty of the volcano. What started as an impromptu idea turned into a collection of timeless memories, filled with laughter, and togetherness.
